Swansfield Elementary School's "Blessings in a Backpack" Program has asked for assistance from other Howard County Schools. "Blessings in Backpack" sends food home every weekend with Swansfield students who may not have enough to eat at home. Each year, they feed 40 children and would like to expand their program to feed more this year.
If you'd like to make an individual donation to their program, please use the link below and designate your gift to Swansfield Elementary School, Columbia, Maryland. Thank you, in advance, for your support.

Lunch hall monitors sit outside the cafeteria entrance and monitor student "sign-out" to use the bathroom and help ensure that students have a “hall pass” to go to another part of the building. On occasion, the PTA may ask for your help selling tickets to PTA events; directions and materials will be provided. From Mount View e-mail: The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. in your child's homeroom with a brief video broadcast hosted by MVMS administration and the MVMS PTA. At 6:45 you will move to your child’s period 1 teacher. Please review the details below to make the night an enjoyable, successful one for all. WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE? Although the evening begins at 6:30 p.m., parking will be challenging. We suggest that you arrive a few minutes early and that you carpool, if possible. You may also park at Marriotts Ridge High School. Please do not park in the bus loop as it is a fire hazard. Thank you. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Back to School Night is a chance for you to hear about the great things happening in the classrooms of MVMS. Space is limited and if this year is like years past, the hallways will be filled with adults moving in various directions to get to class on time. Therefore, we request that students remain home during this event. Don’t worry about getting lost – staff will be available to help you arrive to your child’s classrooms. We will also have maps available for you to use if needed. WHAT SHOULD I BRING? You should bring a copy of your child's schedule. You can find the schedule on Canvas. Stop by the school foyer if you arrive after homeroom to pick up a schedule if you forgot yours; however, there is a possibility of you having to wait in a long line causing you to miss some of the first class. You may want to bring something so that you can take notes, if needed. The PTA wants to remind you to bring your checkbook. You can take care of your PTA membership! (Dues are $15/person/ 25 per family) WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN I ARRIVE? Please proceed to your child's homeroom for the video broadcast that will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. The classroom portion of our Back to School Night Program begins promptly at 6:48 p.m. 2019-20 Check your student's homeroom here.
